Tim Smith is the President and Senior Federal Retirement Counselor for The Federal Benefits and Retirement Group. He carries the Federal Retirement Consultant (FRC) designation from the Federation of Federal Employee Benefits Advocates (FFEBA).
Tim’s years of experience helping federal employees understand their benefits and overcome the daunting task of retirement paperwork has earned him a reputation throughout the southeast as a trusted advisor. His calm demeanor and passion for helping federal employees create retirement solutions and understand the complex system of federal benefits provide them with peace of mind.
Utilizing a personalized benefits analysis, Tim will customize a solution based on each employee’s current utilization of benefits and Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) allocations.
Tim grew up in Orlando, Florida and was a professional trumpet player going to University of Central Florida on a music scholarship. He acquired his father’s printing business in 2001 and helped it triple its profits in 2 years.
In 2006 he decided to move the family to Georgia to be closer to his brother, a worship pastor in Fayetteville. He continues to play trumpet as a hobby which thrills his rescue dog, Grace, to no end. She sings while he plays. They are quite the musical duo.
Melissa Smith

Melissa started with FBRG in 2016. Over the last eight years, she has been appointed to the position of Office Manager of FBRG. She has created personal relationships with more than 1,500 clients during her years of service and dedication. In 2020 client surveys, Melissa was often said to be very professional and accommodating. She’s involved with scheduling and overseeing the day-to-day office operations and liaises between FBRG and our partners. Melissa treats every FBRG client as if they are her own family.
